Initial Issue

For this project, we worked on a newly constructed home that required a complete landscaping installation. The challenge was that the house was part of a series of identical builds, meaning the design needed to stand out while maintaining a clean and elegant look. The homeowners wanted a functional backyard for entertainment while ensuring the entire landscape had a seamless transition from front to back.

Design Phase

To create a balanced yet sophisticated outdoor space, we designed a natural rock retaining wall to define the bed and lawn, giving the backyard structure and contrast. Sod installation maximized usable space for entertainment while ensuring a lush and inviting atmosphere. To maintain consistency, we extended the design to the front yard, ensuring a harmonious flow between the spaces. The garden beds were planned with contrasting rock colors, a variety of plant selections, and feature stones to enhance the overall visual appeal.

Building Process

The project began with initial grading to prepare both the front and backyard for landscaping. We then constructed the natural rock retaining wall, carefully chinking the stones to create a flat and uniform wall face. Once the structure was in place, we installed landscape fabric to suppress weed growth and ensure longevity.

Next, we installed irrigation systems for both the lawn and garden beds, tapping into the existing water supply to maintain efficiency. The plant beds were filled with contrasting rock colors to create a visually appealing separation, and a variety of plants were selected to provide seasonal interest. Feature stones were strategically placed throughout to break up the space and add a natural, sculptural element to the design. The final step was the sod installation, bringing vibrancy and usability to the yard while completing the cohesive flow from the backyard to the front.

Completion & Final Outcome

The transformation resulted in a polished and inviting landscape that perfectly balanced functionality and aesthetic appeal. The backyard is now an ideal space for relaxation and entertainment, while the front yard seamlessly integrates with the overall design, enhancing the home’s curb appeal. The mix of natural elements, vibrant greenery, and structured hardscaping created a timeless and low-maintenance landscape that will thrive for years to come.
